Organizers will be giving out free school supplies and free haircuts at a Back-to-school festival today in Detroit.
It takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greater Grace Temple, located at 23500 West Seven Mile Road.
One thousand free backpacks are expected to be given out today.
The festival is aimed at kids between 5 to 12 years old.
"We're not only providing them with school supplies, but also with motivation and the understanding that school is so important. It's a day of fun and excitement about the start of school," said Greater Grace Temple's Senior Pastor, Bishop Charles H. Ellis III.
