The city's 36th District Court says thousands of people have taken advantage of a sale on something that rarely sees a price drop: tickets..

According to the city, the court waived all late and warrant fees on outstanding balances owed on tickets. That excluded parking tickets.

Anyone standing in line at 2:00 p.m. were given a "rain check" that allows them to return within 30 days and still get the discount.

“Several thousand people turned out to take advantage of this one-time opportunity to restore their driving privileges and save hundreds of dollars on each ticket” said Chief Judge Nancy M. Blount. “They recognized that the New Year is a time for new beginnings and wanted to start the year off with a clean slate. Anyone who was in line will still get that opportunity and we hope they take advantage of it.”

To take advantage of the ticket sale, you needed to go to the court between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday or Tuesday, December 28th or 29th. The 36th District Court is located at 421 Madison Avenue, on the northeast corner of Madison and Brush.
