DETROIT (WXYZ) — It’s not every day a man charged with four felonies flies banners over the courthouse to blame the Mayor for his trouble. It happened again today in Detroit in the ongoing feud between businessman Bob Carmack and Mayor Mike Duggan.

One banner said, “Kilpatrick in jail 28 years 4 corruption—Put Duggan for the same.”

The other banner said, “Duggan spent $1.5 million of city tax $$ on his mistress and sex.”

Carmack claims he’s charged with fraud because the Mayor told Detroit Police and the Detective to get him, saying outside of court, “The Mayor is the boss over this police officer. She answers directly to the mayor.”

In court today two witnesses for the prosecution here from Genesee County testified a 10 acre property on Melville Street was sold by Carmack in 2016 for $1 Million.

When the deal closed, Carmack collected $643,000 after paying back taxes.

The buyer, Harry Conkey testified he bought the land because it was near where the new bridge to Canada is being built. But after he paid the cool million he was told by the city Carmack did not own the land.

“Well, because the city apparently owns or owned the property,” Conkey testified.

Carmack’s Attorney Steve Haney said outside of court, “I would feel bad for anybody who paid a million and is in limbo. My job is to represent my client. My client got a valid deed for the land.”

Carmack hired a private investigator to record Mayor Duggan driving out to Novi to visit Dr. Sonia Hassan and made the videos public. The Mayor is now under investigation by the Detroit Inspector General for helping a program to improve infant morality, run by Dr. Hassan.

The Mayor yesterday continued to avoid questions if he’s romantically involved with Dr. Hassan saying, “I’m never going to talk about my personal life, as you well know.”

A spokesman for the Mayor today said no comment on Carmack and the banners. Carmack is scheduled to be back in 36th District Court in his felony case on April 22 at 10am.
