DETROIT (WXYZ) — When the COVID-19 pandemic began, forcing schools and autism support centers to cut in-person services, it left many parents feeling alone. Some services are opening back up, but there is still a large void to fill.

On Monday, Metro Parent and the Henry Ford Health System are offering the 13th Annual Autism Workshop with the goal of helping to fill that void. This year it will be virtual and run all week.

While it focuses on autism, it has a number of presentations that could help parents of children with other developmental challenges.

The program offers information on health insurance rights and direct access to experts from around the world on what doctors are learning about helping children with special needs.

The cost is $25, but there are discounts available for parents with children in the Detroit Public Schools Community District.
