There was a huge party at the McDonald’s on Grand River in Brighton today. Friends, family, and co-workers of a man withe special needs celebrated his more than three-decade long career.

Daniel Lybrink is retiring.

If you are a regular in the restaurant, you know him. He has Down Syndrome and has worked as Lobby Manager at the store for 33 years.

Monday was his last day on the job as lobby manager at the restaurant. McDonald’s surprised him with gifts, cake, cookies, and a party.

“Everybody could learn from Daniel,” said David Glynn, the restaurant’s General Manager. “Being a team player and smiling. It doesn’t matter what is going on in the world. Daniel brings that to us in the restaurant.”

Daniel didn’t know he was going to have a party.
