"I believe in God and I think He put me in that spot for a reason," said Lauren Wirwille about what happened late Sunday morning on her way to her own bridal shower.

Lauren, an emergency room nurse for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, was already running late when she got behind a driver that appeared to be distracted at the corner of Kensington Road and Silver Lake Road in Green Oak Township.

Lauren honked. The man's minivan rolled forward and she made her left turn.

But then, looking in the side mirror, Lauren's mom spotted the green minivan going into a ditch.

Lauren didn't hesitate to pull over and, in her white dress and sparkly shoes, hop down into the ditch where she was able to open the driver's side door and see that the driver was unconscious and turning blue.
