Recovery efforts continue in search for missing Whitmore Lake fisherman

WHITMORE LAKE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Dive teams spent a second day looking for a missing fisherman on

The 46-year-old man was reported missing by family members when he didn't return home. Also, around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, witnesses reported seeing the man's boat spinning uncontrollably in circles without a driver.

Crews from Livingston County, Washtenaw County, and  Michigan State Police are assisting Green Oak Township police and fire. At least seven public safety boats have been in the water with crews using radar to try to locate the body.

"The sonars detected approximately five targets, all of which have been inspected and discovered to be various things from logs to to a lawn chair to debris from other incidents," said Deputy Chief Kevin Gentry with the Green Oak Township Fire Department.

Gentry says if recovery efforts are unsuccessful by 10 p.m. on Monday, then crews will resume the search Tuesday at 8 a.m.
