A 13-year-old boy appeared in court Monday after allegedly taking his father’s girlfriend’s car on a joyride.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff, a deputy attempted to pull over a Nissan Altima in late December. The young teen who was driving decided not to stop and led police on a chase along Metro Parkway.

Eventually, the car hit a median and crashed.

The boy’s 8-year-old sister was a passenger at the time. The pair tried to make a run for it but were quickly caught by police.

The boy pleaded no contest to Fleeing And Eluding Police and Unlawful Driving Away. He has been in trouble with the law before.

He has had prior contact with police for a charge of Terrorism Threat Through The Use Of Technology. The teen was also charged with Minor In Possession Of A Weapon. That case involved a BB gun. The charge  was dismissed.

He will remain at the Macomb Juvenile Justice Center until his next court date, January 19.
