Police have recovered a stolen ATM in the backyard of a vacant home in Detroit.

Thieves in Chesterfield Township appear to have rammed a vehicle through the glass walls of a Marathon gas station to steal the ATM this morning.

It was recovered in the 19600 block of Fairport by officers responding to a Crime Stoppers tip. It was found inside a red 2001 Dodge Durango that was used in the theft.

The bank machine was stolen from the Marathon gas station at Jefferson and Cotton in Chesterfield Township.

"I've never seen this before," said manager Alec Zorn as he looked over the scene.

Police are investigating the crime and still have questions as to just what happened. They are also searching for suspects.

Anyone with information can contact the Chesterfield Township Police Department at (586) 949-2322 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) SPEAK UP.
