"For them to be so young, they was real smart," said Miracle Dillon about his niece's two young sons who yelled for help when they saw smoke and fire early Monday morning.
The flames were shooting out of an electrical outlet that was behind a bed on the second floor of the family's home in Warren.
Aalayjah Dillon jumped up and didn't just have to make sure her boys, Arionne, 4, Arivonte, 8, got out alive, but also her 17-year-old brother Aronte Dillon, her grandmother, and her mother who is bedridden, unable to walk or talk after a stroke.
Aronte Dillon sustained burns to his hands when he tried to retrieve shoes and clothing for the little boys.
The Dillons were renting the home and Aalayjah tells us that the landlord is paying for them to stay in a hotel for a week while they try to find another handicap-accessible home to rent.
Warren Fire officials say right now the cause of the fire is listed as undetermined, but they have not ruled out that it was the result of an electrical problem.
Aalayjah Dillon says some outlets in the house did not work properly and that the landlord had tried to have them repaired.
The Red Cross and The Salvation Army are assisting the family.
A close family friend has also set up a GoFundMe accountfor anyone who would like to help the family of 6.
