POLICE: Harrison Township man accidentally shoots wife with semi-automatic handgun

HARRISON TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) - The Macomb County Sheriff's Office says a Harrison Township homeowner accidentally shot his wife.

Police say the 60-year-old man was cleaning his semi-automatic handgun at the kitchen table when it accidently discharged firing a single round into his wife's abdomen.

The 50-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital where she underwent surgery. She is expected to survive.

According to the homeowner, he was attempting to "clear" the gun when it discharged. He went shooting at an indoor range earlier with friends.
