Dive teams have recovered the body of a missing boater near Algonac.

Darren Cogbill's body was found around 7:10 p.m. The 37-year-old was among four people who jumped off a boat around 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The three others were able to make it back to the boat.

Police say Cogbill never resurfaced from the waters, considered to be nearly 42 feet deep. Boaters tell 7 Action News the water is rough and choppy, and boat traffic was heavy on the July 4 holiday.

The U.S. Coast Guard, along with the St. Clair County dive team, searched the waters of the North Channel of the St. Clair River for hours Monday night.

Dive teams resumed the recovery mission Tuesday morning.
