EASTPOINTE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Eastbound I-94 has reopened at 9 Mile in Eastpointe after Michigan State Police investigated a fatal accident Wednesday.
Traffic was routed off the freeway at 8 Mile.
A preliminary investigation has determined that an eastbound Buick Regal lost control near 9 Mile, rolling over and catching fire. The driver was killed.
It is not believed that any other vehicles were involved. Three St. Clair Shores officers were also treated for smoke inhalation then later released. No other injuries were reported.
The road was closed for several hours while the accident was under investigation.
