The Emerald Theater in downtown Mount Clemens is getting ready to host concerts again.

It is getting renovated in hopes of making it a "gem" for downtown Mount Clemens.

Jeannie Young is excited to see it open.

She said, "It's going to breathe life back into this town."

Locals are happy to see this historic building make a come back.

Crews at the Emerald Theater are working to get this place restored by the first week of December, after being closed for a few years.

Scott Henderson passes by the theater.

"Things were kind of dingy in the building and I'm looking forward to going there and seeing what it looks like after the restoration," he said.

The theater was built in the 1920's. The new owner plans to preserve the history. They also plan on using the theater for shows, wedding and community events.

Jeannie Young is thrilled.

"It's going to be awesome," she said. "I already bought my tickets for the first concert."

Some say it will be better for nearby businesses like a barber shop next door.

"Oh definitely happy," Gloria Lipka of Bill Visnaw's Styling Barber Shop said.  "Fixing up the outside which will be good for us because then people would see us better."

The first concert will be held December 15.
