The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is warning residents after three separate but similar incidents involving a jury scam.

According to the office, someone is calling residents over the phone, identifying himself as a member of law enforcement, and telling the victims they owe a fine for missing jury duty. Then, he tells victims they will be arrested unless they pay the fine.

The suspect tells people they have to buy a money order and provide the caller with the routing number. All were placed to residents in Washington Township on Aug. 31.

The office is reminding residents to disregard any fraudulent attempts to obtain money, and to contact your local police agency to check on any suspicious calls.
