If you're a firefighter and your heart has been set on fire, who do you call for help? Washington Township firefighters helped one of their own get down on one knee!

Ashley Boylan got the greatest surprise of her life after her boyfriend Chris Babisch proposed to her Sunday in front of family and friends!

She said, "I saw him down on his knee and I was like, 'holy cow. This is happening."

The couple has been together for five years.

Chris is a Washington Township firefighter and recruited his buddies for help.

He said, "I just asked a couple of guys at the fire station, 'Hey look, I want to do something for Ashley.'"

Sunday was Chris's 25th birthday and he thought it would be a perfect day to ask Ashley to marry him.

They came up with the idea of unveiling a banner from a fire truck ladder.

Friends and family were inside of a restaurant Sunday and were told to go to the parking lot.

She explained, "What's happening right now? Everyone had their cell phones and they are looking at me and I'm like 'oh my God.'

The banner came down with the words "will you marry me?"

And as he is on bended knee, Chris told Ashely, "You've been my best friend and I love you with all my heart and I just want you to continue to be my best friend for the rest of my life."

"It was super sweet," Ashely explained.  "I feel terrible. I could not remember what he said. I couldn't even hear it because it was so loud and the trucks were so loud. But in the video you can hear it and it was so sweet I was shocked I didn't cry."

And after saying yes, confusion continue to set in.

Ashley said, "Should I hug him first? Does the ring go first? Should I kiss him? I don't know."

"I just don't think she knew what was going on because her hand was like this so I was trying to put on the ring and I couldn't get it on," Chris added.

As the lovely couple continues on their path together, the wedding date has to wait.

Ashely added, "He is still paramedic school so got to get that under the belt and then start planning."

They are hoping for a Fall 2017 wedding.
