The devastation from Hurricane Harvey has left many of us wondering how we can help and what we can do for the people of Houston and the surrounding area.

One Michigan man is dropping everything he's ever known or had, including resigning from his job, to go to Texas and help out.

Twenty-seven-year-old Justin Wander say he wishes he could be in Texas right now.

"It was the most saddest thing I've ever seen," he says.

We've all seen the devastating images. Water seen for miles, rescue after rescue, and stories of everyday people coming together to help those in need.

"I took a look at my life and seen what was going on in it and realized I can go I have the ability to do this so why not," said Wander. "This has actually been the most focused and clear headed I have been in my entire life with this decision."

Justin sold everything he has, he's leaving Friday for Houston. He won't be working alone. He'll be volunteering with a group called remote area medical.

Wander says they set up remote sites and provide medical care to the people who need it the most.

His friends and parents support his rash decision.

"The general consensus is this is half crazy, but half amazing at the same time," said Wanders.

Jumping in to help others without thinking twice, people helping people, is what Justin says he's all about.

"People are running under one flag or the other and I really just want to bring people under the flag of love, we can do some great things when we unite," he says.
