NEW BALTIMORE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police in New Baltimore are trying to figure out who's been breaking into homes around the city over the last few weeks.

They say there have been 5 reports of break-ins. All of them have been after midnight and before 6:00 am.

They say the thief or thieves are doing surveillance by looking through windows or glass doors. In one case, a window screen was pulled back and they got in through an open window.

At Eric Bland's home, someone got in by breaking through the back sliding door.

In both of those cases, a purse was stolen.

"I'm blessed we're okay. We're alive, but the security is what he took from me. You can't put a price on that," he says.

Police are working to see if the break-ins are connected. They are also reminding everyone yo make sure security measures are in place.

"We want to make sure that people use stops, so windows only go open so far, patio doors, use the stop locks or block sticks so they can't open all the way. Our main concern is that they remain safe in their home," says Det. Sgt. Ken Stevens.

If you have any information that can help investigators, please call New Baltimore police.
