Bloomfield Hills Police are honoring 12-year-old Javon Taylor with their Civilian Bravery Award after he jumped into action when his mother lost consciousness while driving on Woodward Avenue.

It happened on July 17 as Camille Taylor was driving to pick up her daughter from work. Javon was in the backseat when he realized that his mother, who is diabetic, was having a hypoglycemic attack.

"I gave her some Swedish Fish and next thing you know she passed out," said Javon.

Javon quickly climbed into the front seat while pushing his mother into the passenger seat. He then steered the vehicle into the turnaround and stepped on the brake.

Another motorist stopped to help and call 911.
