There’s outrage in West Bloomfield, where they’re asking should the community drop it's designation as a "Welcoming City" for immigrants and refugees?

More than a hundred people crowded in at tonight's meeting where the matter was debated.

At times things got intense.

Over a hundred passionate people attended tonight's meeting in West Bloomfield Township.

This, after West Bloomfield Township designated itself a "Welcoming City" for immigrants back in April. It’s a title that invites and accepts everyone - including refugees.

West Bloomfield is one of 10 Michigan communities that adopted the policy. But many of its residents want to see the label dropped because of fear of terrorists moving in.

Others say refugees aren't terrorists.

Things got heated. At one point, board members even threatened to stop public comment.

At the end, there was as motion to rescind the title, but board members voted to keep West Bloomfield Township a “Welcoming City.”
