(WXYZ) — The daughter of the late Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson is calling the county Board of Commissioners actions following his death “shameful.”

In an exclusive TV interview, Mary Patterson Warner says only days after losing her father to pancreatic cancer, she was stunned to hear the board was aggressively seeking to appoint his replacement before his funeral.

“They have 30 days. 30 days so why does it need to be done in 3-4 days and not allowing us to grieve” says Patterson Warner. She adds “My father would just shake his head.”

She says family and friends have taken offense, given the love her father had for the county and his family.

The funeral is set for Thursday August 15th, and a board meeting is rescheduled for the next day on Friday August 16th.

The former board chairman Dave Woodward was an early name favored by the board, but now a full and transparent process has been promised complete with applications being accepted.

Whoever is chosen will serve as executive in the county government until December 2020.
