Dozens of people hit the street in Southfield on Sunday morning to protest against any potential drilling in the city.

According to reports, the Word of Faith international Christian Center has partnered up with Jordan Development and applied for a permit to drill for oil and gas on the property.

Protestors, including Southfield Mayor Ken Siver and State Rep. Jeremy Moss, say the drilling could be dangerous to residents and they don't want to see it happen.

According to Word of Faith, the well on their property will not be "fracked." Instead, the church said the type of drilling will be subsurface geology.

Also, according to Word of Faith, the well is in "an upland, dense woods so as to shield itself from local traffic and residential properties. It's location will not interfere with the church activities, the surrounding property owners, nor the City of Southfield."

There will be a town hall meeting on Jan. 27 at the Southfield Public Library to discuss drilling in Southfield. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
