As far as the family of 21-year-old Oshae Ricky Thomas knew he was very much in love with 17 year-old Marche Lowe and looking forward to taking her to her senior prom.
Now she's in critical condition and he's behind bars.
Thomas was in Lowe's Chesterfield home Monday when she was shot in the head. He told police another man pulled the trigger and escaped in a car.
Police said that was a lie.
Thomas's family said he lied because he was nervous. While Lowe's friends described the couple's relationship as rough, Thomas's family insisted he is not a violent man.
"This is not Oshae. He wasn't brought up this way," said Tamica McCullough, Thomas' aunt.
