COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The 18-year-old son of Obie Trice's ex-girlfriend has been granted a personal protection order (PPO) against the 42-year-old rapper who allegedly shot the teen late last week inside their home in Commerce Township.

"Obie Trice, after drinking all day, was arguing with my mother and I decided to break it up. That upset him which led to him pulling a gun on me and shooting me," the teen wrote in his petition that was filed in Oakland County this week. "The shot hit me in my left leg. This caused me to have a closed fracture of left tuberosity. I am terribly afraid of him because he's a dangerous drunk."

The shooting happened inside a home on Woodvale Drive where Trice lived with the teen's 40-year-old mother.

When seeking her own personal protection order against Trice, the woman wrote, "The respondent was really drunk and we got into an argument which was broken up by my son. The respondent pulled a gun on my son and my son was shot." The woman went on to write, "The bullet went thru his thigh out his butt and his pelvis was fractured."

The woman's petition for a PPO was denied.

Investigators with the Oakland County Sheriff said a neighbor called 911 early last week Thursday after hearing someone yelling that they had been shot.

When deputies arrived, they observed a man, later determined to be Obie Trice, walking out of the front door, holding a pistol in his right hand. Deputies ordered him to drop the weapon and lie down.

Trice was placed under arrest.

"At this point, the case is still pending an investigation. We believe when all the facts come to light that Mr. Trice will be vindicated," said David Rudoi, Trice's attorney.

It's alleged that Trice had been drinking all day and pushed his girlfriend during an argument, according to investigators, who added that the woman's teenage son intervened, confronted his mother's boyfriend, and a physical altercation took place inside the house.

The woman and her son reportedly decided to leave the home, but investigators said Trice then went back into his bedroom, where he retrieved an unregistered handgun, and went to the garage where the son was about to get into a vehicle with his mother to leave.

Investigators said the son saw the gun in Trice's hand and, fearing he was going to be shot, he attempted to disarm Trice and there was a struggle over the gun.

Both men went to the ground, the trigger was pulled, and the son was struck in the left thigh area.

Trice has been released from jail pending the outcome of the investigation and possible charges.
