(WXYZ) — The court register from 48th District Court shows only one charge for Lake Angelus Police Chief Mike Farley, operating under the influence.

Possessing a gun while under the influence is a misdemeanor that was not charged in the case.

Farley was stopped in Keego Harbor the Friday after Thanksgiving after a person called 911 to say he was driving “like an idiot.”

Keego Harbor Police Chief John Fitzgerald says the decision on the gun charge was the discretion of the arresting officer. A loaded gun was in the console of the pickup truck driven by Farley.

Keego Harbor Police video of the arrest shows Farley flunking roadside sobriety tests, including walking toe-to-toe and standing on one foot while counting. He was given a PBT and it registered .155, almost twice the legal limit.

Police officers are licensed in Michigan and if the gun charge were part of the case and a conviction we are told that could jam up Farley including sanctions.

As we’ve reported Farley is the only full-time cop in Lake Angelus Michigan’s smallest city with 300 people in northern Oakland County.
