Police are hoping that several clear surveillance images will help catch a bank robber. They believe he may be responsible for a pair of robberies that took place this week.
Southfield police released images today of a suspect in the robbery of a Comerica Bank branch that took place on Tuesday morning. They say the suspect walked into the bank at 27100 Lahser Road just before 10 a.m. yesterday.
"He implied that he had a weapon and handed the teller a note which demanded money," Southfield police said in a release issued today. "The bank teller complied with his demand and the suspect fled the bank on foot," they said.
Police describe the suspect as an African-American man who is between 50 and 60 years old. They estimate his weight at about 180 pounds. "He has a medium complexion and was wearing a dark colored hat with writing on it, a brown plaid flannel shirt, dark colored jeans with a drawstring, and white athletic shoes," they said.
The same man is also believed to be involved in a Harper Woods bank robbery that police say took place 90 minutes after the Southfield robbery.
In Southfield, they say no one was injured and no witnesses actually saw a weapon on the suspect.
