SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) — People who live in an apartment complex in Southfield want answers. They say they have now gone five days without hot water in one of the Regal Towers and are fed up.
WXYZ called the management office here and was told no one was there to provide comment, call back Monday.
Here is what happened according to residents. The boiler that provides hot water to one building broke Saturday. The complex sent an e-mail to residents saying they tried to fix it, but learned it needs to be completely replaced. That is expected to take up to two weeks.
Residents say they want to be compensated.
“So now they say that the boiler will take another week to get there. Then it has to be installed. There will be no compensation,” said one frustrated resident. “We pay rent and the amount we pay includes water. And I feel like if there is not going to be water it is very unsanitary. If there is not going to be water we should be able to get something off our rent. Some kind of compensation. The only thing they said is we can take showers at the club house.“
