For the second time in a matter of weeks, Ferndale police say someone has strategically placed screws and nails on the road to target them.

At the end of October, Ferndale police were picking up screws and nails in their parking lot and behind the courthouse.

This time they found screws and nails along Nine Mile from outside the Police Department to Paxton, behind the police department on Troy, and again in the alleyway behind the courthouse.

“Those are all areas that our SCOUT cars travel regularly,” said Sargent Baron Brown with the Ferndale Police Department.

Originally police thought they identified a person who might be responsible, but they ended up clearing him.

Sgy. Brown says they are now looking through new surveillance video to once again try and catch whoever is responsible.

“If your beef is with us or the criminal justice system, you know, why are you, why do we want to put innocent people in danger?” said Stg. Brown.

No one got a flat tire this time around.

Police are asking anyone who might have seen someone riding a bike near the police department on Monday between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m to give them a call.

Ferndale police can be reached at 248-541-3650.
