A couple of car owners in Farmington Hills were not going anywhere fast this morning.

That's because they had their tires stolen.

It happened overnight at the Polo Club Apartments.

One of the car owners said, "I've never seen anything like this."

She and her husband have been living at the Polo Club Apartment complex near 9 Mile and Halsted for the past two years.

She did not want to be identified but said, "Not comfortable here anymore. Don't want to have to come out and go to work and I can't because my car is on bricks. It's crazy."

Neighbors, like Madhura Kemker, were just as shocked.

She said, "They took all the tires? Oh my God. That's scary."

Police say thieves are professionals when it comes to stealing tires and they seem to target certain brands.

This time, they hit a Ford Focus and Ford Explorer.

"Generally they have, almost like a shopping list of cars they are looking for so it's unpredictable as to what kind of make or model they may be looking for," explained Lt. John Piggott of the Farmington Hills Police.

The thieves stole the tires sometime overnight and went unnoticed.

He added, "These crews are generally professional. They have a routine in which they go through. Sometimes they might have a crew that just comes through and all they do is loosen the lug nuts on the tires and wheels that they are looking for and then later on a crew might come in with a van and all they do is put up a jack throw landscaping blocks under it and they are out with the wheels in minutes."

Kemker added, "It's really surprising, I never would expect that. This is a pretty good area."
