Troy Police are in need of some "extra eyes." They are launching a voluntary surveillance camera registry, called Extra Eyes program

If you are a resident or business owner and have security cameras on your property, Troy police want to register it with them.

"Continue to make Troy a safe place to be and help us solve crimes," said Sgt. Meghan Lehman of Troy Police.  "Help us apprehend criminals quickly."

Troy Police started the security camera program to obtain helpful footage in the event of any criminal activity.

"We've had some incidents in the past where something like this would've helped. And we know a lot of people have cameras now."

If your home or business has cameras - police are asking you to register it with them to help cut down valuable time spent in the investigation.

Participation is voluntary and its up to you to release surveillance footage.

"It saves us some work from knocking on doors and potentially we would be able to solve crimes more quickly."

If you participate in the program, you will receive a window decal, which could also work a deterrent for criminals.

If you want more information, Troy Police will hold a community forum April 7 at 6pm at the Troy Police and Fire Training Center.
