Verizon gives 7 Action News an exclusive look at their disaster preparations

For security reasons, the location is not visible from any main road and there are no signs on the building advertising Verizon.

But what the telecommunications company has on site is a fleet of high tech vehicles and portable units, ready to be dispatched to any emergency or disaster.

Verizon calls the location their "Tech Barnyard," and the equipment maintained on the grounds can do everything from enhance service in remote areas to establish a portable cell site where there's been a disaster.

The names Verizon gives the pieces of equipment are what they call "farm friendly," but they say their purposes are very serious when it comes to maintaining service in cases of emergency.
