ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) — If you like taking a peak inside interesting homes, there is an event for you. It’s called the Weird Homes Tour.

It’s a national group that sets up tours in different cities throughout the year and this weekend is the tour in metro Detroit.

One of the homes is in Royal Oak called The David’s Pop Art Home.

“Completely different that you don’t expect,” John Davids explained. “Kind of an overload of senses.”

John and his wife Judy took the tour last year in Detrot and thought their house fits right in.

“Lots of bold colors and graphics,” he said. “Horribly uncomfortable furniture that we love the looks of but nobody really comes to the house to sit and relax.”

But what does the word “weird” mean.

“Anything that is unusual that would be interesting, that people would like to come visit,” he explained.

The Davids took the 1916 bungalow and over 30 years created this work of art.

“The Warhol wallpaper in the kitchen is one thing,” he explained. “Upstairs we have a great Roy Lichtenstein mural on one of the walls that’s very, very jarring for people.”

The Weird Homes Tour is Saturday from 10am to 5pm and has eight different locations in Metro Detroit.

Once you buy a ticket, you can go at your own pace.

John and Judy hope visitors leave with some inspiration.

“Maybe do some of these things at your house.
