Ann Arbor, Michigan (WXYZ) - At Ann Arbor's Briarwood Mall, it was a crime unlike any seen before. Police say a man walked into the Kay Jewelers Store, sprayed employees with mace, used a sledge hammer to break into the counters, and then took off with jewelry.
The incident happened at 10:30 Friday morning as people shopped. The robber had to escape through the mall, as Kay Jewelers isn't near an outside door.
Witnesses saw the man take off in a silver Chevrolet Impala with another man.
The boldness of the crime has police concerned. They put together a computer generated picture of the suspect and released it on Monday. They are hoping it results in leads.
