So many people from in metro-Detroit were in Las Vegas or had loved ones close to the horrific scene. Many are now arriving home after a weekend trip.

7 Action News spoke to people at Detroit Metro as they arrived home from Las Vegas on the day after the massacre at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. They say they witnessed chaos at resorts along the strip after the shooting started. People ran for their lives, then hid, not knowing who was behind the attacks or where they might go.

Injured people were everywhere seeking help.

“I am happy I made it back because 50-60 people didn’t make it back,” said Joel Fresque as he waited for his luggage at the airport.

He described someone coming into the casino where he was gambling, yelling there was an active shooter, and everyone hitting the floor.  The casino quickly went into lock-down while police assessed the situation.
