Michael Stack is a former Wolverine Lake City Councilman. He resigned shortly after he crossed the median on I-275 and crashed into another car, killing Shannon McIntyre and Nicholas Pare.
Their family is filled with deep sorrow, loss, and regret.
For the man who killed them, deep remorse.
Stack would plead no contest to reckless driving causing death and having an open intoxicant in his car. He was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison.
Sheryl Mc Intyre, Shannon’s mother, said in court, “For a reason only you know, you decided to kill my only daughter. It will be forever etched in our minds seeing our car with Shannon and her fiancé Nick smashed up on TV.”
Shannon’s father Thomas said, “You told the Canton Police, Michigan State Police in your own handwriting that you had 3 or 4 shots of Smirnoff Vodka at 10 am. Then went out driving and had a few more dips while driving. Was that drink that important?”
Stack said, "There was no intention, no malice. It was something that happened. Since the beginning of this, I know how many lives have been affected. I can’t undo what had happened and if I could, I would.”
It was said in court he had not served any jail time. He was taken into custody to begin his prison term.
