Hospitals in Las Vegas are still tending to hundreds of patients who were either shot or trampled as people tried to escape the concert venue.

Hospital administrators say, thankfully, they were able to control the chaos because of disaster response training -- some of which they received in the wake of the Pulse Night Club shooting in Orlando.

But what about hospitals right here in Metro Detroit?

7 Action News Reporter Ameera David spoke with a an emergency physician and disaster coordinator for DMC hospitals to ask if we are prepared to handle that kind of mass casualty scenario.

The doctor also talks about what spectators can do on scene if they find themselves in one of these horrific incidents.

A healthcare coalition in the area provides training free to the public if anyone wants to learn about disaster emergency response. The next training begins in December.
