Emergency Manager Cathy Squires to takeover Hamtramck

HAMTRAMCK, Mich., (WXYZ) - An emergency manager will be taking over the city of Hamtramck.

The takeover begins Monday. Governor Rick Snyder appointed Cathy Squires to the post Wednesday afternoon.

Squires was the Detroit Public Works Chief under Kwame Kilpatrick and is an administrator with the city of Pontiac.

Earlier this month, Hamtramck's City Council unanimously supported the appointment of an emergency manager.
