A local woman and her mother have been unable to make contact with family members in Haiti since Hurricane Matthew hit the small Caribbean country.
Flo Kelley has been trying to reach family members without success. Seven of her eight siblings are in Haiti right now.
"I've tried to call," she told 7 Action News. "I'm trying to inbox people that might have access to the internet and no one is responding, so I don't know if they're okay or is it just the shortage of power, is that why I cannot hear from my loved ones. I'm really concerned."
Kelley is spending a lot of time in front of the television with her husband and Mother. They are trying to keep up with the latest news. The hurricane is the second natural to strike the Island in recent years. A magnitude 7.0 earthquake killed more than 100,000 people.
"I'm feeling very helpless," Kelley said. "I'm actually frustrated because I feel like I should be doing more than what I'm doing."
The U.S. has sent aid ships to the area. According to Kelley, some additional relief efforts are now underway as well. She's appealing to all Americans to help by providing sanitation products, water, dry goods, clothes and medicine.
"They have a team already in Florida that are gathering some goods to ship back and you have some kind of medical supply company that are going to ship some stuff over there," she said.
