After a knee replacement surgery, Patti Sturing thought a lawn-cutting service sounded like a good idea.

Last year, the Northville homeowner signed up for a 6 month package through Greenkeepers Lawn & Landscape at a discount of $216.

But what started as a good deal, she says, turned into bad one, real quick.

"I waited for him to come, I waited, waited, waited," she said.

Two months after signing up, the grass had grown tall, but the lawn service, Sturing says, was a no show.

After several calls, she says she learned her home wasn’t part of the schedule and that it wouldn’t be possible to fit her in.

Immediately, she asked for a refund. She says they gave her excuses but never sent the money.

Ultimately, Sturing took the matter to a judge, which awarded her a total of $548 for her troubles, money that over a year later, she hasn’t been able to collect.

"It just annoys me that businesses get away with this kind of thing and they’re not accountable," she said.

It turns out the BBB evaluates the company at an F rating. By phone, company management told 7 Action News the case was all a big mis-understanding, and said they would repay the money immediately but ultimately, that promised check never came through.

Greenkeepers was given several weeks to make it right after 7 Action News stepped in, so the the News will continue to stay on top of the company until there is resolve.
