The Michigan Humane Society is offering a reward for information relating to an incident where three dogs were burned alive in Westland.

According to MHS, it happened after a burglary inside the home around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29.

“This crime is despicable on many levels,” Matthew Pepper, President and CEO of MHS said. “Not only was a family robbed of their belongings and displaced by a fire, they have to suffer the loss of their three beloved dogs. The dogs were trapped with no way to escape and suffered greatly before ultimately perishing.”

MHS is working with the Westland Fire Department to find the person responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to call 734-467-3260.

"The City of Westland and the Westland Fire Department appreciates the assistance on this case from the Michigan Humane Society," commented Mayor Wild.  "This was a truly tragic situation and we urge the public to come forward with any information regarding this crime."
