The Plymouth Ice Festival is in its 34th year.

The annual event draws in hundreds of thousands of people each year and is the biggest free ice festival in Michigan.

The ice fest started out as a way to bring attention to stores in downtown Plymouth but over the years, it's grown to be much more.

"People are really amazed at what they can do with a block of ice. Everyone thinks it’s just frozen water but these guys are artists,” says James Gietzen, Plymouth Ice Festival producer.

“Everyone seems to be in awe of everything that’s going on. Since we do it, we’re not impressed by it, but to see other people impressed by it is fulfilling," adds Paul Nuznov, an ice sculptor.

The Plymouth Ice Festival is this weekend, Jan. 8 - Jan. 10:

Jan. 8: 3 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Jan. 9: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Jan. 10: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
