GROSSE POINTE WOODS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Some folks can’t believe we are still feeling the effects of Saturday’s storms.

The outage hit a neighborhood that’s on the border of Grosse Pointe Woods and Harper Woods.

Neighbors are dealing with no electricity for almost four days.

Warren Galloway’s street has been eerily quiet since Saturday when the power went out.

Since then he’s been putting ice in his freezer and he will soon be throwing out everything in the fridge.

Warren is working from home, which makes things difficult with no computer. He is only using a cellphone.

At least the weather is nice.

“Not been as humid, otherwise it would have been unbearable to stay in the house,” he says.

Grosse Pointe Woods City Hall and police station have also been without power, forcing them to close to the public.

Warren thought the power wouldn’t have been out this long.

“Hopefully Saturday night, hopefully Sunday night, hopefully Monday night, now Tuesday night,” he says.

Just blocks away in Harper Woods you hear some folks using generators.

David Johnson bought one about six months ago for $300. Without it?

“I would have probably had to go to the hotel for a night or two,” Johnson says.

He says it powers pretty much everything in his home - except for the air conditioner. Luckily he doesn’t need it.

After experiencing this outage Warren is going to consider buying a generator for his house.

“Gets you to think about okay in the future how do you prevent something Ike this happening long term again,” he says.
