Hamtramck police are searching for a man who they say tried to abduct students in two separate incidents this week.

According to police, the first incident happened just before 5 p.m. on Thursday in the area of the I-75 service drive and Commor. That's just north of Caniff Ave. and the I-75 service drive.

Police say a man driving a black Chevy Camaro stopped two students after they exited a school bus. He opened the passenger side door and tried to get the students in the car by offering them candy.

Then, on Friday around 8:30 a.m., a man matching the same description began following a student and tried to grab her. That's when she ran to the school grounds and the suspect fled. That incident happened in the area of Casmere and Fleming, less than three blocks away from the first incident.

Police say the suspect is described as a light-skinned black man in his 30s, medium build, about 6-feet tall with a beard and wearing a black hoodie.

He was driving a black Chevy Camaro with a white racing stripe down the middle. A photo of the vehicle can be seen above.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Crachiola at 313-876-7823 or Hamtramck police at 313-876-7803.
