WYANDOTTE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Wyandotte Police are looking for a bike thief.

Wyandotte Deputy Police Chief Archie Hamilton said, “We know it’s just a bicycle, but to the victim, It’s not just a bicycle, it’s his only means of transportation.”

Wyandotte Police are looking for the suspect after he stole a bike at Shoppers Valley on Biddle Avenue Sunday before noon.

The victim is a 60-year-old man on disability who works outside of the store.

“Pulling weeds and cleaning the parking lot up when the theft took place.”

In the video, you can see it was a sunny morning, several customers were walking in and the victim wasn’t too far from the blue bike, but none of that stopped the thief.

Cherish Antoine rides her bike to store.

“It’s kind of crazy because I just parked my bike in the same spot,” she said.

It’s clear that this is a community full of cyclists, now they’re going to make sure they aren’t the bike thief’s next victim.

Antoine added, “For sure now since I heard that, So of course I’m going to lock my bike up now.”

The victim did not want to talk on-camera but he told police he’s heartbroken over this.

Deputy Chief Hamilton added, “He’s upset. He had to take his last $100 and go purchase a new bicycle just so he could get around town.”
