A 24-year-old Westland man was shot and killed after he allegedly took part in a home invasion at a house on Glenwood Thursday morning.

The 23-year-old man who lives in the house was shot in the leg.

Around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, someone in the house called 911 to report that they had shot someone who forced their way into their home.

The injured intruder and his alleged accomplice or accomplices fled before Westland police arrived. But officers later discovered that the suspects involved were at Beaumont Wayne Hospital.

The injured intruder was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the two men who were with him, a 24-year-old Belleville man and a 22-year old Inkster man, were placed under arrest for home invasion.

The injured homeowner was taken to a different hospital to be treated for his leg wound. After he was released from the hospital, police took him into custody for questioning.

We're told all three men will remain in custody until the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office reviews the case.
