The Firefighter Support Services Charity of Wyandotte is under investigation after being accused of keeping millions of dollars instead of helping people in need.

The charity is a professional fundraising company that claims they offer money and aid to fire departments as well as funds for fire victims.

Today, both the firefighter support services charity and its fundraising partner associated community were ordered to stop asking for money by Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette or face serious penalties.

The Attorney General's office says the charity made more than $4 million from the donations collected and only gave one-tenth of that money to fire victims.

Schuette said they use misleading and deceptive practices to entice people to donate.

If the charity does not stop, they could receive a $10,000 fine for every violation.

It is important to note that the Firefighter Support Services Charity of Wyandotte is not connected to the Wyandotte Fire Department or City of Wyandotte in any way.
