Volunteers with A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue are making sure that a dying dog's last days are filled with love, fun, and new friends!

And Saturday they played matchmaker and treated Buddy, a 14-year-old lab-mix, to a "pup-date" with another senior dog named Kyla.

Going on a date is one of the many things rescue volunteers wanted him to experience when they created Buddy's bucket list. And we're told he's been having the time of his life!

Buddy recently came into the rescue's care after his owner suddenly passed away.

Sadly, when rescue volunteer Loren Cazan took Buddy to get checked out at a veterinarian, it was discovered that he has cancer.

Cazan said Buddy was clearly depressed over the heartbreaking loss of his owner, but he's been wagging his tail and smiling ever since they began helping him check items off his bucket list.

For Buddy and Kyla's date today in Clinton Township, Marco's Pizza donated a bone-shaped pizza! Three Dogs Bakery donated a fancy bone-cake for the happy pair.

One of the rescue's supporters has a soft spot for senior dogs and is helping out with the some of the costs of Buddy's medical care which includes pain management.

Cazan, who usually fosters dogs for the rescue until they find their forever homes, decided to adopt Buddy so he didn't have to spend his last days waiting for a new family.

Kyla is currently in a foster home and waiting for someone to open their heart and home to her.

A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue is hoping Buddy's story will encourage more people to consider adopting senior dogs because they are usually housebroken and still have so much love to give!
