SOUTH LYON, Mich. (WXYZ) — Residents at a senior community in South Lyon have been displaced after a fire ripped through the multi-unit condo building around midnight.

According to the South Lyon Fire Chief Robert Vogel, firefighters responded to a report of smoke in a unit at the building. On arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from one unit of the building.

Firefighters and police officers started rescuing residents from all of the six units.

Two residents of one of the units were unconscious, pulled from the building and taken to Providence Park Hospital, where their conditions are unknown at this moment, according to the fire chief.

Three other residents suffered from smoke inhalation, and one of those victims may have been transported to the hospital.

The chief says the fire started in the basement of one of the units and is not suspicious in nature but crews are investigating for a cause.

Residents of all 6 units at the senior community have been displaced.
