Two homes where broken into in the short stretch of Kilbourne near Dickerson and Outer Drive on Detroit’s east side around 9 a.m. Thursday.

“I take chemo. Every time I go to get chemo, they break in my house,” said one victim who did not want to be identified. “I’m just sick of it.”

She says she does not know the intruders but believes the people are responsible for a string of home invasions happening in her neighborhood.

“I’m a Detroiter, been a Detroiter, I want to stay here,” said the victim. “I hate to leave my house, but I got to do something because I can’t live like this. I’m just tired of people going in and out of my house like they live here. So we need better police protection. We need to support our police a little bit more.”

“You try to fix your home up and make it comfortable for you to live in in a neighborhood where you feel it is safe and it’s not safe any more because of the break-ins that’s happening in their neighborhood,” said Henry Tyler who lives near the victim.

Tyler has also had his house broken into and items stolen a couple of times.

Detroit Police were on the scene Thursday morning investigating the recent rash of intrusions.

“I hope that they get caught.  I hope that police catch them,” said Tyler.

Neighbors hope someone out there may have some information that can help put the criminals behind bars.
They also hope the residents can all band together to stop these crooks once and or all.
