DETROIT (WXYZ) — The "Ring of Fire" weather pattern usually makes an appearance a few times during the summer months and it looks like this particular pattern will keep our storm chances around this week.

The "Ring of Fire" resembles a large, strong dome of high pressure over one part of the country, making for hot and mainly dry weather near the center with storms arcing around it. In our case, high pressure is positioned over the mid-Mississippi Valley leading to instability over the Great Lakes with numerous chances for showers and storms as a stationary front stays put over Lower Michigan.

Temperatures will soar to near 90° all week with high humidity, as well.

One thing to remember, the chance for storms may exist each day this week, but any wet weather will only last a few hours on any given day. Make sure you stay on top of the forecast this holiday week by installing our WXYZ app on Apple and Google Play along with our Storm Shield app on Apple and Google Play for the latest weather alerts and radar.
